The event, held at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, provided the opportunity for Mayor Lucas and our President and CEO Dr. DeAngela Burns-Wallace to welcome nearly a thousand mayors and their staffs to Kansas City.

“Mayors play an uncommon and crucial role in the equitable economic vitality of our nation’s cities,” said Dr. Burns-Wallace.

During the three-day conference, mayors from all over the country came together to connect and collaborate on issues impacting American cities.

“We had mayors that were working together on solving some of the problems that are vexing for our country because mayors actually have to solve them,” Lucas said in an interview with KCTV5.

At the close of the event, USCM released its 2024 bipartisan national issue platform, which covers a range of issues impacting American cities.

“The nation’s mayors view national issues on a personal scale,” said USCM President Columbus, Ohio, Mayor Andrew Ginther. “As we head into another election year, mayors want to keep everyone’s eyes on the prize: thoughtful, bipartisan solutions that make a meaningful difference in individual’s lives.”
