Visit the tranquil beauty of Kauffman Memorial Garden

Spring is in full bloom and the bees are busy in the Ewing and Muriel Kauffman Memorial Garden. Flitting from petal to petal amongst familiar and exotic botanicals, fountains and bronze sculptures by Tom Corbin, nature’s inhabitants and human visitors find a tranquil space framed by stone walls.

Found in the heart of Kansas City, the garden is a quiet example of the many ways Ewing and Muriel Kauffman enriched the community around them throughout their lives. This Memorial Day weekend marks the 18th anniversary of the couple’s enduring gift.

Inspired by Mr. and Mrs. Kauffman’s world travels, the garden was designed for enjoyment and enrichment, comparable to the parks throughout Europe, and is constantly changing with transitions of perennial foliage and blooms. Mrs. Kauffman’s favorite flower, the gardenia, blooms in late April and May. The annual flower displays are spectacularly replanted with the seasons.

The Memorial Garden is the final resting place for Ewing and Muriel Kauffman. It provides a serene place where everyone is welcome and the Kauffman legacy continues to grow. There is no admission fee to the garden; it is open daily from 8 a.m. to dusk.
