Letters of Interest process & timeline

For Project and Research grant opportunities, applicants are invited to complete a Letter of Interest (LOI) within our grants portal. After review, selected projects are invited to submit a full proposal for funding consideration.

The process

Project and Research grant opportunities follow a five-step process, outlined below:

The 5 steps to the LOI process for Projects & Research grants

For Research grant opportunities, a panel of the Foundation’s Research, Learning, and Evaluation (RLE) staff and Impact officers will review all LOI. The panel will also review full proposals and send them to external content experts for peer review.

Review timeline

To be considered in the Fall 2024 cycle, LOI for Project and Research grant opportunities must be submitted between Oct. 15, 2024 – Jan. 10, 2025. We encourage applicants to submit early, as LOI are reviewed in the order they are received.

Applicants will be notified of status in Q1 2025. Some applicants will be invited to complete a full proposal, due Feb. 21, 2025, to advance in the process. Full proposals will be reviewed and funding decisions announced in Q2 2025.

To be considered in the Spring 2025 cycle, we will accept LOI in Q2 2025, with funding decisions expected in Q4 2025.
