Amy Unruh is director of strategic communications for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. She leads the Strategic Communications team to develop and execute a communications strategy that advances the Foundation’s priorities, overseeing brand management, marketing, media relations, and storytelling to engage key audiences. She previously held the role of senior communications manager.
Prior to joining the Kauffman Foundation, Unruh served as senior director of administrative communications for the University of Arkansas, where she supported executive communications and developed a strategy to enhance internal communications. Previously at the university, she worked in the Graduate School and International Education, leading the unit’s crisis communications through the first two years of the COVID pandemic, and she engaged with students through her role as an adjunct instructor in media writing at the School of Journalism and Strategic Media. Unruh also has experience as a content specialist, wire service reporter, and event planner.
Unruh is a graduate of the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and English. She earned a Master of Arts in Journalism from the University of Arkansas, and holds a Public Relations Strategy certificate from Cornell University.
