Evaluation

Measuring impact, driving accountability

We measure outcomes and processes to identify strengths and areas for growth, assessing the effectiveness and impact of our work. Evaluation is critical to measuring the outcomes of our initiatives, ensuring accountability, and driving continuous improvement.

Our approach to evaluation

WATCH: “Ewing Kauffman on Evaluation” | 0:35

We take a rigorous, results-driven approach to evaluation, using both quantitative and qualitative approaches to assess the impact of our initiatives.

Evaluation is more than just tracking outcomes; it is also about understanding the processes that lead to success – or areas for improvement. This intentional approach allows us to gain a comprehensive view of what’s working, why it’s working, and how we can replicate or scale those successes in future efforts, which is in line with Mr. Kauffman’s vision on evaluation.

Collaborative evaluation

Evaluation is a collaborative process. We work closely with grantees to ensure that they are active participants, offering their input, feedback, and on-the-ground perspectives throughout the evaluation process. We collaborate with Project and Collective Impact grantees to ensure grantee evaluations produce meaningful learnings and metrics. We also partner with third-party evaluators to provide an external lens, minimize bias, and instill confidence in the findings. Through partnered evaluations and collaborative learning cohorts, we’re turning insights into action.
