Kansas City

Among the 24 panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt currently on display at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center, there is one that pays tribute to a man who was devout in faith, committed to community, and deeply connected to Kansas City.

Kauffman Scholars Inc. and the Hispanic Development Fund recognize the need to develop an honest, open, and supportive conversation that will best prepare Kansas City and young professionals of color for success.

The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce created the Small Business of the Year, Mr. K Award based on the philosophies of Mr. Kauffman, including growth in business, strong employee relations, and outstanding service to the community.

It started in KC when Project Choice made college a possibility; evolving over three decades supporting access and completion to cultivate the diverse, educated workforce that is Kansas City’s future.

We recall Ewing Kauffman’s instinct for innovation that built a model sports franchise, a modern stadium, a championship-caliber team for his hometown and an uncommon legacy for baseball.
